Gabrielle Fortin

Gabrielle Fortin is a research assistant at the IUSMM Research Center and a member of the Center for Stress Studies. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Montreal and a master’s degree in marketing from HEC Montréal. She is also a member of the Loricorps transdisciplinary research unit at the University of Quebec at Trois-Rivières, where she contributes to projects aimed at better understanding and addressing dysfunctional eating attitudes and behaviors.

Céline De Breucker, Ph.D. (c), est doctorante FRQ affiliée au Centre de recherche de l’IUSMM et étudiante en sciences biomédicales à l’Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières. Elle s’intéresse à l’effet de la nature sur les attitudes et comportements alimentaires dysfonctionnels. Elle est membre de l’unité de recherche transdisciplinaire Loricorps et du Laboratoire Éna-Terra. En Belgique, elle est également psychologue, cofondatrice d’XP Nature ASBL, et coordinatrice en milieu éducatif spécialisé.

Céline De Breucker, Ph.D. (c), is a FRQ doctoral student affiliated with the IUSMM Research Center and a biomedical sciences student at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières. Her research focuses on the impact of nature on dysfunctional eating attitudes and behaviors. She is a member of the Loricorps transdisciplinary research unit and the Éna-Terra Laboratory. In Belgium, she is also a psychologist, co-founder of XP Nature ASBL, and a coordinator in special education.

Marc Lanovaz , Ph.D., is a full professor at the School of Psychoeducation at the University of Montreal. A regular researcher at the IUSMM Research Center, he specializes in artificial intelligence and developmental disorders. He is also the scientific director of the University Institute for Intellectual Disabilities and Autism Spectrum Disorders and the creator of the mobile app Mon employé autiste.
Pierrich Plusquellec
Constellation Table MemberPierrich Plusquellec , Ph.D., is a full professor at the University of Montreal’s School of Psychoeducation. A regular researcher at the IUSMM Research Center and Scientific Director for Industry Collaboration at Obvia, he specializes in the use of machine learning models for automatic behavior recognition, such as facial expressions, and the ethical and social responsibility issues associated with these machine learning models.
Alexandre Hudon
Constellation Table MemberAlexandre Hudon, MD, PhD, FRCPC, is a psychiatrist in the forensic psychiatry department at the IUSMM and an assistant clinical professor at the University of Montreal. As a researcher in digital mental health at the CRIUSMM, he develops artificial intelligence models to predict violence, personalize care, and optimize forensic medical decisions.

Certified in leadership and management skills, she is an adjunct professor of psychology and a member of the Loricorps Transdisciplinary Research Unit at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières.

As co-director of the Ethics, Governance, and Democracy research track at the International Observatory on the Societal Impacts of Digital Technology and AI, her work focuses, among other things, on the socio-ethical issues surrounding AI, particularly in the fields of healthcare and youth.

Stéphane Guay
Co-director (2018-2025)A senior researcher at the IUSMM Research Center, specializing in the assessment and treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder, Stéphane Guay is a full professor in the School of Criminology and the Department of Psychiatry and Addiction at the University of Montreal. Former scientific director of the CR-IUSMM and co-director of the Center for Trauma Studies, he co-founded the Axel Center in 2018 and co-directed it until 2025.
Isabelle Ouellet-Morin
Co-director (2018-2023)A regular researcher at the IUSMM Research Center and holder of the Canada Research Chair in the Developmental Origins of Vulnerability and Resilience, Isabelle Ouellet-Morin is a full professor in the School of Criminology at the University of Montreal and the creator of the +Fort mobile app. She co-founded the Axel Centre in 2018 and co-directed it until 2023. She is currently co-director of the Centre of Expertise in Information Technology – Mental Health, Addiction, and Homelessness (CETI-SMDI).
Stéphane Vial
Co-director (2024-2025)A senior researcher at the IUSMM Research Center and holder of the UQAM Diament Chair in Design for Mental E-Health (2020–2025), Stéphane Vial is a full professor at the School of Design at the Université du Québec à Montréal and the creator of the Mentallys platform. He served as co-director of the Axel Centre from January 2024 to June 2025 and, during a transitional term, helped redefine the Centre’s strategic positioning and redesign its website.
