Digital Mental Health Research in Quebec

On June 12, 2025, the AXEL Center will present and host Symposium 7 on “Digital Mental Health Research in Quebec” at the Quebec Mental Health Research Conference, marking the 30th anniversary of the Montreal University Institute of Mental Health Research Center.

This symposium aims to share the initiatives, approaches, and successes of digital mental health researchers in Quebec. On the program: Johana Monthuy-Blanc, on virtual immersion to understand, assess, and intervene in perceptual eating disorders; Tania Lecomte and Jean-Francois Malouin on research-business collaboration for the implementation of virtual reality-based mental health innovations; Manuela Ferrari on the Douglas Digital and Data Science for Mental Health initiative at the Douglas Research Center; and Stéphane Vial, who will speak on the AXEL Center’s approach and moderate the symposium.

Special guests at the conference not to be missed: Dr. Lionel Carmant, Minister Responsible for Social Services, Jean-François Fortin Verreault, CEO of CIUSSS de l’Est-de-l’Île-de-Montréal, Patricia Conrod from the University of Montreal, and Vincent Poitout from the University of Montreal.

Unveiling of the new Axel

On this occasion, the Axel Center’s new website will be presented to the public, and outgoing co-directors Stéphane Guay and Stéphane Vial will officially welcome Axel’s new director, Johana Monthuy-Blanc.
