The AXEL Center at the Mental Health Alliance Conference
The Axel Centre participated in the Mental Health Alliance symposium, an event bringing together Quebec’s three major mental health research centres in a shared commitment to collaboration, innovation, and the pooling of expertise.
This meeting brought together the CERVO Research Centre, the Douglas Research Centre, and the Research Centre of the Montreal University Institute of Mental Health for a collective discussion on the future of mental health research and innovation in Quebec.
The day began with an opening address by Martin Lepage, who invited Carole Jabet, Vice President of Research and Scientific Direction—Health Sector at the Fonds de recherche du Québec, to present the Alliance’s vision.
A strong message emerged from the discussions: moving from COM-petition to COO-petition.
Beyond the pun, this collaborative vision proposes to pool the strengths of the various centers to create greater collective value at the intersection of physical and mental health.
In this context, the AXEL Center concretely illustrates the potential of Axis 3—Innovative Interventions—as well as the CR-IUSMM’s cross-cutting axis on Partnerships.
As a facilitator of digital solutions and a knowledge mobilizer, AXEL acts as a bridge between scientific, practical, and experiential knowledge to support the development of digital innovations in mental health rooted in real-world needs.
This event also highlighted the importance of inter-institutional collaborations to accelerate discoveries, foster the sharing of expertise, and support the development of innovative solutions in mental health.
The numerous discussions and presentations reflected a shared commitment: to advance mental health research and care together through a collaborative, complementary, and forward-looking approach.
📅 See you next year to discover the latest advances and initiatives emerging from this mental health alliance.
